4th of July:

The 4th of July is what we like to call an EVENT here in St. Augustine. “Fireworks Over the Matanzas” is an annual tradition for us and welcomes visitors from near and far to join in with the celebrations!

Starting off the evening is a free, two-hour concert by the All-Star Orchestra, who will be charging the celebratory atmosphere with big band and swing music, mixed in with some patriotic favorites. Bring your chairs and blankets down to the Plaza de la Constitucion in the center of the Historic District to relax and enjoy some music with friends!

Then with the concert ending at 8pm, take some time to walk to your favorite firework viewing destination at the Bridge of Lions or grab a bite to eat before the main event at 9:30pm. There’s tons of local options, like The Hyppo with its tasty popsicles, Cousteau’s Waffle & Milkshake Bar for a creamy treat, or the Grilled Cheese Gallery with its melted goodness! All great options for a warm summer evening and provide a great opportunity to explore our historic downtown.

Once done with your tasty treat, get ready to finish the night off with a big bang. It’s time for the firework show itself! Considered to be one of the biggest firework displays on the East Coast, with more than 5,000 individual shells exploding all above, it is quite the extravaganza! And in our opinion, is why our local show is also THE BEST on the East Coast.

No matter where you go in St. Augustine, you’re bound to be in for a show. Many line the Castillo de San Marco’s site with their chairs and picnic blankets, waiting for the show to begin, while others find a rooftop in downtown to enjoy dinner/drinks and a view. Celebrating our Nation’s history in the oldest city…it doesn’t get much better than that.

Join us this 4th of July from 6-10pm in the heart of St. Augustine’s Historic District! 🎇
