Becoming a Local:

It doesn’t matter if you’re moving to a new place for work, family, or need a change of pace. Those first few months in a new home can be a rough adjustment. From learning new routines, finding the best places to go out, and making a new friend group, there’s a lot to figure out!

To help kickstart your adjustment to all the wonderful things St. Augustine has to offer, we’ve put together this list of fun ways to start learning about your new community and make you feel more at home instantly!

Enjoy finding fresh, local foods and hand-crafted items, then you must check out the local Pier’s Farmer’s Market! ? ? ? Held every Wednesday from 8-12 pm at the St. Johns County Pier, this beachside market makes for a great morning outing with vast selections of locally produced goods. Plus, you know you’re contributing to the local economy and helping merchants that call St. Augustine home. A great tip is to grab a cup of coffee and one of the delicious baked goods at the end of your shopping and sneak away for a few quiet minutes on the scenic St. Augustine Beach before starting the rest of your day. ?

Another great one to check out is the Amphitheater Farmer’s Market! Held every Saturday morning, this is a great one to check out if you can’t make it on Wednesdays to the Pier. With a wide variety of local goods and produce to select from, exploring the local market makes for a great way to think of new recipes to try out during the week!

Looking for something to do in the evening hours?! Try checking out one of the many restaurants across town that host live music events almost every night of the week! ?? This is a great way to learn about local, up-and-coming artists, eat some yummy food, and provide a great reason to ask that neighbor you’ve wanted to get to know better out for a fun evening!

Another great way to make new friends is to invite some of your new neighbors out for an improv night at the Colonial Music Park! ? This hilarious interactive comedy experience is held every Wednesday by trained comedy professionals who wholeheartedly dive headfirst into any challenge the audience may throw. Always clean, this event makes for great family fun too!

Hopefully, these tips will help you find your place in your wonderful new home and community! ?
