Pet Friendly in St. Augustine!

Pet Friendly in St. Augustine!

Do you like to take your dog with you on your travels, or are you curious to see how your fluffy friend would enjoy living in St. Augustine? We know it is essential that our pets have fun with the family, so fortunately for you, we have put together some tips so your pets can adventure with you!

Now, a serious question: Does your dog prefer running after a ball and showing off in a park, or would they prefer to be lounging by a pool with hand-fed strawberry treats?

If your dog is of the more active type, St. Augustine has some great parks and dog-friendly beaches for you to explore!

With a great combination of dog parks, recreational parks, and outdoor green spaces, your dog has plenty of options to burn some energy. Though dog parks can be found throughout St. Augustine, two of the better ones are the dog-amenity-filled Treaty Park and Pomar Park near downtown.

From the Washington Oaks Gardens to the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Fort Mose, some beautiful green spaces simultaneously allow you to soak in some gorgeous sites and local history. Unfortunately, some parks and outdoor green spaces require dogs to remain leashed, so it is best always to check ahead of time.

There are even dog parks near the beach if you want to let your dog off-leash to run! With abundant shade and mulch to run around in, the Ron Parker dog park provides a great place to burn off some extra energy.

If you choose to go to the beach with your dog, remember that all beaches require dogs to remain on a leash to protect local wildlife like our nesting migratory birds, sea turtles, and sensitive dune habitats.

If, on the other hand, you and your pup prefer some lounge time, there are more than 20 local restaurants for you to do some taste-testing together. Also, many places are happy to bring water bowls for our fluffy friends, especially in exchange for some adorable pets. You can also take your pets throughout our historic downtown for some shopping and local history—remember to buy something cute for your dog at one of the many stores with pet apparel too!

So, visit St. Augustine with your furry friends and see what fun you can have together!
